PCS Host Leadership from the TDMHSAS

On February 16th, PCS was honored to host leadership from the Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (TDMHSAS) for important discussions focusing on community-based child and adolescent mental health services.

The Department's staff included Assistant Commissioner of Children and Young Adult Programs Beth Goodner and Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Children and Youth Mental Health Keri Virgo.

PCS staff included Leslie Moore, SOCAT and Clinical Supervisor; Demetrice Adams, Project BASIC Coordinator; Sara Hawkins, Director of Clinical Services; and Jimmie Jackson, CEO.

The discussion centered around three critical programs that PCS operates and are funded by the Department: Systems of Care Across Tennessee (SOCAT), Project BASIC, and the School-based Behavioral Health Liaison Program (SBBHL).

Leslie and Demetrice did outstanding jobs leading these program conservations. They were able to highlight several successes but also articulate the unique challenges.

Sara Hawkins said, "We were grateful to Assistant Commissioner Goodner and Deputy Assistant Virgo for taking the time to visit, learn, and listen to our supervisors. Each program highlighted in our discussion group is important in our community-based grant-funded services. We are thankful for our partnership with the Department on these programs, our supervisors, and the hard-working staff working each day to carry out the programs’ goals".
